ΦX -- Callous Circumstances

Our personalities are two different things: the impulsive, short-term reptile whose understanding of the world is dictated by momentary changes, and the long-term thinker whose understanding is based on past experiences and events.


I’ve often — and still regularly — made the mistake of relying on the reptilian part of me to make really important judgments, leading only to short-term outcomes. I hiss and throw a fit at the momentary — a situation unfeeling of what I’m currently doing. No matter how hard I complain, get upset and angry at, say, over the weather not being right — it won’t change. It wouldn’t change even if I did nothing at all, if I just observed it.


Situations aren’t people, and even if they were, they wouldn’t care what you think or feel. Don’t bother throwing a fit. Instead, just observe.
